Who We Are

Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta has been blazing trails and redefining what’s possible for girls everywhere since 1921.

At that time, while most women had recently earned the right to vote, most women still followed strict social norms and restrictions educationally and financially. The Girl Scout organization changed this.

Girls were encouraged to embrace their unique strengths and create opportunities based on their interest, not someone else’s. And with that, girls began participating in areas previously limited to them…including sports, science, and outdoor adventures. The values instilled in girls more than 100 years ago are still true today – helping every girl unlock her full potential, find lifelong friends, and make the world a better place.
