Please join us on Saturday, January 25th, from 8:30AM - 1:30PM to help graduating seniors in Atlanta get college ready!
Thanks to our founding partner, Delta Air Lines, United Way of Greater Atlanta is zeroing in to ensure ALL students have access to a college education by helping families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
Did you know that on average, less than 50% of high school seniors in Georgia will apply for federal aid money? And of those completing the FAFSA form, 90% will go on to enroll in a post-secondary education program. Barriers include confusion about the process, lack of awareness about the money that is available, and fear of the unknown, among others. That’s why we’re bringing the resources to them with the help of volunteers like you. There is a special need for bi-lingual volunteers.
- FAFSA Guide: Work with individual families to help them fill out the FAFSA form. Don’t worry, United Way will train you. (Guides must be at least 22 years old)
Ready to get started?
United Way is offering two training options for FAFSA Guides:
- In-person training: Thursday, January 9th, 7:30AM - 9:30AM @ United Way of Greater Atlanta
- Online training: Friday, January 10th, 11:30AM - 1:00PM
Contact Claire Arnold at Carnold@unitedwayatlanta.org with questions about volunteering, or to refer a Spanish-speaking volunteer.
