Volunteer: Ready to join the fight against Medicare fraud and scams?

Join Senior Medicare Patrol to help educate seniors in your community about scams and how they can protect themselves.

SMP volunteers receive training on the basics of Medicare fraud and other healthcare-related scams to conduct short presentations to senior groups in their own community. We provide all materials needed for the presentations, including scripts to use as a guide. Volunteers are also provided materials to help with community events such as health fairs/resource fairs to spread awareness of the SMP program.

Volunteering for SMP is flexible and is done on an as-needed basis. Because our presentations and events occur during business hours Monday through Friday, it’s the perfect opportunity for retirees to give back! Couples could also team up and volunteer together!

The Georgia SMP is a federal grant program through the Administration for Community Living (ACL). In Georgia, SMP is sponsored by AdviseWell, Inc. with corporate offices in New Orleans, LA. For more information, please contact Sunny Lawless at 877-272-8720 or visit www.stopmedicarefraud.org.

Frontline Response is a faith-based non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue men and women out of sex trafficking and homelessness and prevent the most vulnerable in society, our children from falling victim. Our street outreach, Princess Night, is one of our responses to combat the effects of human trafficking in and around the Metro Atlanta area.

Every Friday evening, volunteers gather with our staff for our anti-sex trafficking outreach, Princess Night. Volunteers gather for a brief time of training, to learn more about Frontline Response and what to expect during the outreach. The team travels together in a Frontline Response van to engage with individuals possibly being exploited in the commercial sex industry, offering prayer, resources, and hope. While engaging, deliver roses and handmade cards, communicating to women that they are valued and loved, and that there are opportunities for hope, rescue, and recovery. The cards include messages of encouragement and our 24/7 hotline number.

Must be 16 or older to participate. Volunteers under the age of 18 who would like to serve will need to have a parent or legal guardian complete a Parental Consent Form.

For more information, please contact volunteer@frontlineresponse.org.

Volunteer: Dynamic Assessment Process Evaluator: Help find the next Posse Scholars!

Posse is a four year, full-tuition, merit-based leadership scholarship and program for high school students who may be overlooked by the traditional college admissions process, who represent diversity of background and experience, and who are ready to truly develop their leadership skills. The Posse program sends students in teams of ten to one of our partner institutions so they can support one another.

The Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP) is Posse's unique evaluation method for identifying young leaders who might be missed by traditional admissions criteria, but who can excel at selective colleges and universities.

The Large Group Interview (DAP 1) is one of the most exciting pieces of the DAP selection process. This interview involves students in a series of interactive workshops, giving them an opportunity to showcase their leadership and communication skills. Through observation, Posse staff and volunteer evaluators watch for interpersonal talents indicative of a student's potential to succeed in college and work well within a diverse team. Volunteer evaluators are looking for what we call "standout" students, i.e., students who are great communicators, work well in teams or with their peers, can resolve conflict and lead discussions, who are positive, creative and catch your attention.

DAP 1 sessions will take place from approximately 3-9pm, Monday-Friday, August 11-18. Volunteers can sign up for one or multiple sessions. Volunteers must be college graduates and willing to attend a volunteer training session. If interested, please contact atlanta@possefoundation.org.
