MUST Ministries is a key resource for more than 33,000 of north metro Atlanta's poorest residents. Two-thirds of MUST clients are children, and 90% of them live in Cobb and Cherokee counties. MUST's target population includes individuals and families who are homeless, unemployed, working poor, veterans, disabled or experiencing other hardships.
In a typical year, MUST Ministries:
- Provides groceries to 15,000+ food pantry clients in 34 locations.
- Serves about 80,000 warm meals.
- Prepares and distributes 250,000+ lunches to more than 7,000 children in the summer when they would otherwise go hungry without school lunch.
- Houses 900+ individuals at the MUST Elizabeth Inn Emergency Shelter
- Provides more than 84,000 safe nights of rest for individuals across all of the MUST housing programs (including supportive housing for veterans and people with disabilities).
- Helps at least 600 people find employment, allowing them the ability to provide for their families and remain in stable housing – and returning $11 million to the local economy.
These efforts are carried out by a small professional staff and an army of 11,000 volunteers. When people experience hardships and need temporary assistance, MUST Ministries is there to fulfill our mission of “serving our neighbors in need…transforming lives and communities”.
