Moving in the Spirit is an award-winning creative youth development program. We use the discipline of dance to help children and teens develop the social, emotional and cognitive skills they need to thrive. Each year, volunteers and donors transform our studios into the Holiday Store, a winter wonderland set to celebrate our students and their many accomplishments. The Holiday Store is one way students can redeem their earned points, which acknowledges their intentional focused efforts over the semester.
Young people at Moving in the Spirit earn “points” every class for meeting their leadership and dance commitments! At the Holiday Store, students use those points to purchase gifts for the people they love in their community, further developing their sense of accomplishment, compassion, and giving. We are hoping to have tons of volunteers excited to assist Moving in the Spirit and our students with the following Holiday Store roles:
Support Shoppers - help our students budget their points as they make choices on what to buy!
Present Pals - help our students wrap and/or bag their special gifts so they can surprise their loved ones!
Community Cashiers - help students check out with their purchases and inform them on local organizations they can give back to!
Set-Up - help our staff decorate the space and and price/organize the Holiday Store's merchandise for our students!
Break-Down - help our staff reset the space after the Holiday Store shopping commences!
Volunteers should be ages 16+. For more information about The Holiday Store and how you can further support it, please visit https://movinginthespirit.org/news-press/holiday-store/
