United Way of Greater Atlanta wants to ensure that all individuals of our community feel appreciated and recognized. When you create a care package for a senior citizen who is in a retirement home, assisted living or living independently at home, we’re meeting that purpose. Please take a moment to appreciate our seniors by creating a care package that can warm their day. They will be distributed during outreach along with other resources, provided by United Way! Once assembled, the care packages can be delivered to 680 Murphy Ave. SW Atlanta, GA 30310.
How to make a Care Package:
Items for YOU to include: lotion, activity book (coloring or puzzle), tissue and letter (template can be found here!)
United Way will provide additional resources to your bag!
Optional: grip socks, deck of cards, colored pencils and stamps
Items NOT to include: medication of any kind, colognes, vitamins, mouthwash, pocket knives, hand sanitizer, razors, liquid soaps, manicure sets, stainless steel nail files, nuts, string cheese.
Put all items in a new reusable tote!
Deliver to the United Way of Greater Atlanta Warehouse!
Guidelines on Letter Writing:
- Avoid politics completely and religion in excess; however, saying you will pray for them is wonderful.
- Please do not include a date or year on your letter.
- Adults: Include your contact information (mail or email) so the letter recipient can reply. (Recipients may or may not write back; please do not be disappointed if you do not receive a response.)
- Children’s Letters: Include first names only and do not include addresses (an adult’s address can be used).
- No glitter or confetti please!
