With more than 350,000 children identified as food insecure, United Way of Greater Atlanta has continuously committed to combating food insecurity; understanding that full bellies lead to greater potential of those we serve. COVID-19 amplified the reality that our most underserved communities would suffer disproportionate effects of the virus-food at the top of the list. Access to food was grossly disrupted for hundreds of thousands of individuals and families, students, seniors, and homeless. As partners for more than 100+ years, UWGA is proud to join Coca-Cola in hosting Coca-Cola Week of Service; serving diverse communities and meeting the needs of those who need us most.
Open Hand seeks to eliminate disability and untimely death due to nutrition-sensitive chronic disease.
Volunteers help to deliver meals to our clients living throughout metro Atlanta. Routes average approximately 1 to 3 hours with 7-10 clients. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and use their own vehicles.
