Let’s get together for the EITC Awareness Day & discuss tax help resources to kick-off our VITA season! On Friday, January 26, we will be celebrating the 18th annual Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day, which is a national effort to increase awareness about the EITC and other refundable credits. Let’s get the word out to those who are eligible to file a tax return, even if they don’t owe any tax, to claim their tax credits. This is money that workers can use for groceries, rent, utilities, childcare and other bills as well as to boost their savings. Are you a community leader, VITA volunteer, or practitioner that works with families? This information will help you assist families that may have barriers preventing them from receiving the credits and resources, such as VITA, available to them. Together we can financially empower families in our community! The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a tax credit for low and moderate-income wage earners. Last year, eligible workers in Georgia received an average EITC amount of $2,853. Nationwide during 2022, 31 million eligible workers and families received about $64 billion in EITC. The IRS estimates only four out of five workers claim the EITC they earned. This leaves billions of dollars on the table each year. EITC ResourcesEITC Fast Facts | EITC Calculator
